I Lost Belly Fat and Got Flat Abs in 6 Minutes a Day - Promises to Beware

"I lost 6 inches off my waist and got the abs I've always wanted... and it only took me 6 minutes a day to do."

Sounds familiar?

I bet it does because it brings to mind various fitness infomercials which promoted this ab machine, that weight loss shake, or that cardio machine whose name you don't even remember anymore.

The diet and fitness world is filled with shady products and marketers, each vying for your hard earned money. How can you avoid wasting your money and not falling for those empty promises? This is what this article is all about.

The first thing you need to remember is the simple rule that if it seems to good to be true than it probably is. It's as simple as that. The claims the surround weight loss and fitness products are hard to verify or refute. The only thing you can work with is your common sense. Apply it at all times.

The second thing you need to understand is that machines, as a rule, don't help you to do more effective workouts than you could have done otherwise. For instance, a biceps curl machine is not more effective than doing the curl with dumbbells. Therefore, it is usually not worth the price to get a machine that simulates the exact same movement that you can easily do without it. There are exceptions to this rule but it is correct nearly all the time.

The third thing to know is that you can lose fat from a specific body part by doing targeted exercises. This is why all those claims about ab machines being able to get you to lose belly fat are false. You lose fat from your entire body as a single unit or not at all.

The fourth thing to know when you're thinking about buying a fitness product is that commercials, as a rule, portray a much rosier picture than the truth really is. This is advertising, after all, and it's only to be expected that a commercial paint the product in question in the best possible colors. Always be skeptical about what you see on infomercials.

The fifth thing you should be aware of is that no one single machine or piece of equipment is enough to lose weight and to keep it off. You need a combination of fat burning workouts and the right eating plan to go along with it. Using just one machine is never a complete solution.
